Bangladesh Television (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশন), also known by the acronym BTV, is the state-owned Television network in Bangladesh. It started broadcasting as Pakistan Television in what was then East Pakistan on 25 December 1964. It was renamed Bangladesh Television after the independence in 1971. Broadcasts in full colour started in 1980. About 2 million televisions receive transmissions from the network’s 17 relay stations.

BTV has a national channel which is broadcast from Dhaka. This transmission is relayed to the whole country via local relay stations in major cities of the country. There is also a regional station located in Chittagong which broadcasts local programmes in the evening. In 2004, BTV started worldwide broadcasts through its satellite based branch, BTV World.

BTV is primarily financed through the television licence fees. Although it has produced many award-winning programmes, it has often been criticised for being the mouth-piece of the ruling government.

The ATV stations are located at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Daska, Multan, Bahawalpur, Larkana, Hyderabad ,Sukkur, Peshawar, Mangora, Qalat, Batkhail, Khuzdar, Thandyani, Sahiwal, Sibi, Quetta and Tando Allahyar covering over 50% of the population. The success of ATV is primarily attributable to its extremely popular family entertainment programs. The program mix is Entertainment 40%, Information 37 % and Education 23%. The broadcasting setup of ATV clicked on the very outset and played a major role in the prosperity and stability of the Company.All the capital and running expenses of this company are met from its own resources. No government grant, budgetary allocation or subsidy was ever acquired.

Live at 5 is a popular hour-long television newsmagazine airing weekdays at 5:00 p.m. on the CTV Atlantic system in Atlantic Canada. The program’s official name is CTV News: Live At 5. Before CTV’s branding change in 2005, it was officially known as The ATV Evening News: Live At 5. The program is unique in that name of the anchor of the six o’clock newscast was always included in the opening credits of the program and that tradition continues to this day. For many years, it was Canada’s highest rated local television program based on market share. It remains the most watched television show in the region according to the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement, even ahead of any prime time programming. The program was first broadcast in September 1982. The program evolved out of its predecessors: I-D or In-Depth and The Notebook, both of which were also hosted by Live at 5′s first host, the late Dave Wright. It is loosely based on and named after the now defunct WNBC-TV program Live at Five and was suggested as a concept by News Consultant Jacques De Suze. Live At 5 became part of the first ninety minute block of news on a local television station in Canada, the first 5:00 p.m. newscast in the country and the first daily, local television newsmagazine in Canadian television history .
The program celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Maritime province tour and a book about the show’s history, written by former co-host Steve Murphy, in 2002.

NDTV Profit is a business news channel started by New Delhi Television in January 2005. Started to provide competition to the monopoly enjoyed by CNBC-TV18, the channel has managed to garner a decent market share. It has a large number of journalists covering the action from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). Furthermore, it also covers the latest business deals and acts as a platform for companies to give their public results, with growth rate, net profit etc. On 14 December 2006 NDTV Profit was launched a video screen at the BSE building.
NDTV was the brainchild of its Chairman, Prannoy Roy and his wife and Managing Director, Radhika Roy.
In 1988, NDTV’s producers produced a news and current affairs show ‘The World This Week’ for Doordarshan. The show proved to be immensely popular and NDTV established its image as a credible private news producer. It moved on to become the sole news content provider and producer for India’s first 24-hour news channel, Star News. Then in 2003, they launched two 24-hour news channels— NDTV 24×7 in English and NDTV India in Hindi. Later they also launched NDTV Profit, a 24-hour business news channel in 2005, which became a leading business news channel in a short period of time.
NDTV 24×7 is a premier English language television network that carries news and current affairs in India, it is owned by New Delhi Television Ltd. NDTV 24×7 won the Asian Television Award for Best News Programme in 2005.

In 2003, it was repositioned as a comedy-centric channel. In March 2005, SAB TV was acquired by Sony Entertainment Television and was transformed into a youth-centric channel. In June 2008, the channel announced that it would return to its roots by being repositioned as a comedy-centric channel once again.
SAB is a part of the network of Television channels owned by Multi Screen Media in India along with the other channels being Sony TV, SET Max, and SET PIX. SAB has a strong consumer perception as a comedy channel.Love Story is an Indian television drama, produced and directed by hindi film director Anurag Basu. The series originally aired in India on SAB TV from April 30, 2007, to January 17, 2008. Beginning June 11, 2007, the series was retelecast on sister network Sony Entertainment Television. Although the show was dropped from SET’s line-up in India within months, the series aired until its completion on SET’s international feed, Sony Entertainment Television Asia, which aired the concluding episode of the series on January 31, 2008.

A notable aspect of Flix during its early days was that the channel did not advertise the primetime lineup of solely itself, but also ran during breaks between daytime movies, a primetime schedule of programs that were slated to air that night on all major premium channels including HBO, Cinemax and Encore.
Before its launch, Tele-Communications, Inc. made a failed attempt to acquire a 50 percent stake in Showtime in 1989.[2] there was some debate as to whether Viacom or TCI originally conceived the idea for Encore, a service similar to Flix, that also focused on films from the 1960s to the 1980s until a format change in 1999 in which recent films were added to the mix. Viacom executives insisted TCI lifted part of the plan from Showtime Networks, Inc. Then-Encore president John Sie said in an 1991 interview with Multichannel News that TCI brought up the concept of the Encore network as a way to revitalize Showtime, either by launching a new service from scratch or overhauling the format of Showtime sister network The Movie Channel.
Starting in 2007, Flix began to show some R-rated movies during the day. Also in 2007, Flix began showing movies from the year 2000; those titles include Reindeer Games and Pitch Black. Unlike most other premium movie channels, Flix does not offer multiplex services other than the main network.
Launched in 2005, Flix On Demand is the VOD counterpart to Flix. Flix On Demand offers classic movies from the ’50s through the ’90s. Flix On Demand divides movies by decades: ’50 & ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s.

UTV Live is the name of the regional news service broadcast on UTV, the ITV region in Northern Ireland. The first edition of the programme was transmitted on Monday 4 January 1993. UTV Action (formerly known as UTV Bindass Movies), is an Indian movie channel which features Hollywood action movies dubbed in Hindi and bollywood action movies.It has shown many top films like Rambo 4, Blade Trinity, Spider-Man, Hancock, Ocean’s Eleven, Demolition Man, The Specialist, and 300. In January, its ratings have gone higher with films like Superman Returns, Hancock, Batman Returns, Blade: Trinity, and Spider-Man. It is an offering from the Bindass brand based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The main evening edition of UTV Live airs from 18.00 to 18.30 every weeknight, covering the day’s news, current affairs and sport from across Northern Ireland, with UTV Live Tonight airing from 22.30 to 23.00 on Monday to Thursday nights.
The 18:00 and 22:30 programmes are broadcast from Studio One at UTV’s headquarters in Havelock House, Belfast with short bulletins broadcast from the continuity studio in the station’s Central Technical Area. UTV also has studio facilities at Parliament Buildings, Stormont and news bureaux in Derry and Dublin with an intention to open a further bureau in Omagh. The station also makes use of video journalists based in Coleraine, Enniskillen and Newry.
The governing body of the Independent Television network, the Independent Television Authority, first advertised the franchise for Northern Ireland in September 1958. Two consortia applied for the franchise; one led by the Duke of Abercorn and supported by The Belfast Telegraph and The Northern Whig newspapers, the other led by the Earl of Antrim and supported by The News Letter and Sir Laurence Olivier. The ITA eventually persuaded both applicants to merge their bids to obtain the new franchise, on the provision that a greater stake of investment in the station was offered to Catholic sources.
With the ITA request met, the group, under the name Ulster Television Limited, set out their plans for broadcasting; initially, the station would try to provide 20 minutes of locally-sourced programmes per day, and the company arranged with ABC Television to sell advertising time and to maintain their studio premises at a former hemstitching warehouse in Havelock House on the Ormeau Road in Belfast.

STAR Utsav (Hindi: STAR उत्सव, translated as “celebration”) is a free-to-air Hindi general entertainment channel based in Mumbai. It shows some of STAR Plus’ popular programs.
This channel is available in India. STAR Utsav caters to viewers who have recently entered the fold of cable and satellite television. It gives them the opportunity to revisit the glory years of Indian television programming by re-running the best shows from the extensive STAR Plus library.
