This STAR Ananda Live TV channel is co-production of STAR TV and Anandabazar Patrika (published by Ananda Publishers). STAR Ananda or StarAnandaLive Kolkata TV is mostly available as free-to-air 24-hour news channel or 24 Ghanta (hour) News Channel, apart from that it is also distributed via satellite, cable, IPTV and DTT, and was launched on June 1, 2005. It has its headquartered in Kolkata and housing state-of-the-art production facilities, STAR Ananda boasts an extensive bureau network, bringing to the Bengali viewer unparalleled, comprehensive and incisive news coverage. With an over 40 per cent majority market share in the Kolkata and West Bengal markets amongst all news channels in launch week, STAR Ananda continues to consolidate, adequately reflecting the aspirations of the Bengali people. Some of its main programs include STAR Khobor, Hoy ma noy bouma, Ek Dozen golpo, and Hello VIP. “STAR Khobor” is at 9 o’clock in the night.

Kolkata TV is a 24×7 Bengali news channel, launched by SST Media in the year 2006. Associated Broadcasting Company Limited (ABCL) had purchased 86% stake in Kolkata TV for Rs 25 crore. Kolkata TV would now be a part of TV9 network of channels. Now it is taken by R.P group. The channel is now being run by its 171 employees. It was planning a Bengali general entertainment channel as well as opening a bureau in London. The headquartered of the channel is at Kolkata, West Bengal (near Park Street). Kolkata TV has a wide range of programmes ranging from hourly news, analysis of major news events and Interviews.
